Virginia Finlinson Moody, 82, died Saturday, October 22, 1994 in Provo.
She was the wife of Dr. Milo Crestfield Moody. Their family home was in Spanish Fork, Utah where they resided for 55 years.She was born April 7, 1912 in Oak City, Utah, the daughter of Leo and Lydia Lyman Finlinson. She spent her childhood years in Oak City, graduated from Delta High School and in 1932 acquired a two-year teaching degree from Brigham Young University. She taught school in Oak City prior to her marriage. In 1961, she received her bachelor's degree in education from Brigham Young University. Virginia and Milo were married June 1, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of seven children.
Virginia was a talented artist, musician and writer. She enjoyed nature and gardening. She was an example of kindness, gratitude and love for others. She sought to exemplify the teachings of Jesus Christ and faithfully served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as president of the Spanish Fork Stake Relief Society and was often called upon to help with church music. She was active in community service. In 1976, she was a finalist for Utah State Mother of the Year.
Survivors include her husband of Provo; her children and spouses, Patricia White and Howard L. Bowers, M. Lyman and Jacqueline Moody, and Milton G. Moody, all of Provo; Michael F. and Maria Moody, Bountiful; Lydia and Warren D. Hansen, Sandy; Marilyn and Michael R. Atwood, Salem; Manton V. and Christina Moody, Orem; 45 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters, Grant L. and L. Lyman Finlinson, Oak City; Richard L. Finlinson, Mesa, Arizona; Isobel F. Williams, Cedar City; Julia F. Bliss, Spanish Fork.
Her parents preceded her in death along with two sisters and a son-in-law: Maidie F. Arnold, Clara F. Atkin, and Fred G. White.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 26, 1994 at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Fork 9th LDS Ward Chapel, 98 South Main, Spanish Fork. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, on Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. or Wednesday from 9-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the general missionary fund of the LDS Church.
